TL;DR
Senior Data Scientist (Data Modeling/Forecasting): Building scalable data models, statistical solutions, and market predictions for Telecoms, Media and Technology research with an accent on regression analysis, time series forecasting, econometric modeling, and complex datasets. Focus on designing analytical methodologies, validating quantitative outputs, and presenting insights to internal and external stakeholders.
Location: Menara Skymind office, Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia; in-person work three days a week or more with flexibility to work from home or remotely on other days

What you will do
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data models and custom statistical solutions for the Telecoms, Media and Technology industry.
- Deliver analytics and market predictions for syndicated research and consulting projects across multiple segments.
- Develop analytical methodologies that transform complex data into actionable business intelligence.
- Collaborate with research, product, technology, and operations teams as the analytical subject matter expert.
- Maintain validation, peer review, version control, and documentation standards for analytical outputs.
- Support bespoke projects, methodological initiatives, and the strategy of the Advanced Analytics team.
Requirements
- Proficiency in regression analysis, time series forecasting, multivariate analysis, and econometric modeling.
- Experience handling large, complex datasets and addressing data quality challenges.
- Hands-on experience with Python or R and end-to-end analytical workflows and market prediction models.
- Strong requirements gathering, workflow design, planning, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
- At least five years of relevant analytical experience.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of the Telecoms, Media and Technology industry and its market dynamics.
- Experience supervising others or leading small project teams.
- Master’s degree in a relevant subject.
- Experience presenting to external clients or at industry events.
- Experience with cloud-based analytical platforms.
