Activision 2027 Summer Internships - User Research Data Analytics

Location: In-person in Sherman Oaks, California; applicants must currently reside in the US or be open to relocating to the US.

Salary: $20.00–$50.00 hourly

A major interactive entertainment company developing, publishing, and distributing video games and entertainment franchises.

What you will do

• Partner with user research leads and game development teams to analyze play test telemetry and research data.
• Query, join, validate, and summarize datasets using SQL across player, session, match, and study identifiers.
• Navigate telemetry schemas to identify relevant events, fields, and metrics for research and design questions.
• Build and maintain interactive visualizations and dashboards with JavaScript and Apache ECharts.
• Conduct ad-hoc investigations, data-quality checks, and analyses of player behavior, progression, and performance.
• Integrate behavioral telemetry with survey data and contribute analytical summaries to research reports.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a master's or PhD program and graduating between December 2027 and June 2028.
• Available for a 12-week, in-person internship starting in mid-May or mid-June.
• Currently residing in the US or open to relocating to the US.
• Working knowledge of SQL, including joins, aggregations, filtering, CTEs, and troubleshooting structured datasets.
• Experience with JavaScript for data visualization; familiarity with Apache ECharts or a comparable library is strongly preferred.
• Ability to work with event-based data, define metrics, investigate edge cases, communicate findings, and explain limitations to non-technical partners.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python, R, notebooks, version control, or additional BI and data-visualization tools.
• Passion for video games and familiarity with a broad range of game genres.
• Experience with Activision titles, relevant coursework, or personal and academic projects.
