Sr. Systems Engineer - Virtual Infrastructure - Hybrid (VMware vSphere, PowerShell and PowerCLI): Designing, deploying, and operating enterprise virtualization environments across data centers, points of presence, and edge locations with an accent on VMware vSphere administration, storage, networking, and infrastructure automation. Focus on building next-generation cloud-native platforms, troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues, and supporting high availability through a follow-the-sun on-call rotation.

What you will do
- Design, deploy, and maintain VMware vSphere, hyperconverged, and cloud-native virtualization environments across data centers, points of presence, and edge locations.
- Manage virtual machine lifecycles, cluster maintenance, capacity planning, vSAN, and distributed storage for virtual machine and container workloads.
- Automate infrastructure management and incident response using PowerShell, PowerCLI, Terraform, and AI tools.
- Collaborate with platform and application teams to define virtualization requirements and deliver stable, high-performance infrastructure.
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot complex system issues, and maintain operational documentation.
- Participate in a periodic 24/7 follow-the-sun on-call rotation, with approximately one week of on-call duty every 1.5 months.
Requirements
- 5+ years of enterprise VMware vSphere/ESXi administration experience.
- Strong proficiency in PowerShell and PowerCLI scripting and automation.
- Experience with VMware vCenter, ESXi, HA/DRS clustering, x86 server hardware, and mixed Windows/Linux environments.
- Proficiency in vSAN, VMFS/NFS, SAN/NAS integration, virtual switching, VLANs, TCP/IP, and DNS.
- Hands-on infrastructure automation experience with Terraform, plus strong analytical, project management, prioritization, and troubleshooting skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; willingness to learn cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes and containerized workloads.
Nice to have
- Foundational Kubernetes and container operations knowledge.
- Experience with KubeVirt, Rancher Harvester, public clouds, hybrid architectures, or alternative hypervisors such as KVM, QEMU, and Proxmox.
- Exposure to Longhorn, Ceph, Git, ArgoCD, Flux, Prometheus, Grafana, or Aria Operations.
