Senior Automation Engineer (Python/AWS)

Location: Remote from Madrid, Lisbon, Sofia, Podgorica, or Belgrade; the role also states that work is possible from any location worldwide.

What you will do

• Turn incomplete briefs into agreed outcomes and actionable delivery plans across engineering, Finance, and Security.
• Build and maintain software and cloud/infrastructure API integrations with secure credential handling, pagination, retries, partial-failure recovery, and safe repeated execution.
• Transform billing, usage, and inventory data into repeatable outputs with allocation rules, reconciliation, and visible mapping gaps.
• Extend inventory, network-policy, and capacity automation while retaining necessary human decisions and verifying operational results.
• Deliver version-controlled changes through CI, diagnose failures across code, Linux, APIs, data, networking, and cloud infrastructure, and release safely.
• Own monitoring, actionable alerts, documentation, maintenance, and the responsible use of coding agents.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience, typically 5+ years in software, infrastructure, platform, or automation engineering.
• Strong production Python, software design, testing, debugging, and API integration skills.
• Hands-on AWS experience with solid Linux and networking fundamentals.
• Practical SQL and data-validation skills, including joins, units, periods, ownership mappings, and reconciliation.
• Experience with infrastructure as code and CI, including state, drift, idempotency, dependencies, and rollback using Terraform/OpenTofu and Ansible.
• Advanced coding-agent workflows, autonomous delivery, clear collaboration, and English at B2 or higher for technical discussions and written communication.

Nice to have

• Cloud billing or FinOps tooling such as AWS CUR, FOCUS, or Athena.
• Inventory or event-driven integrations, network policies, flow monitoring, IAM, capacity tooling, additional cloud platforms, OpenNebula, Kubernetes, Go, or self-service systems.
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD, Grafana, and related observability tools.
