Senior Animator – Temp (Cinematics)

Location: Hybrid position based at the home studio in Irvine, California, with some on-site and some work-from-home arrangements. Remote options may be explored.

Salary: $39.54–$73.16 per hour in the U.S.

What you will do

• Create high-quality character and creature animation for cinematic films.
• Animate characters across styles ranging from cartoony to realistic.
• Work with directors, animation supervisors, and leads to develop and maintain cinematic animations.
• Apply body mechanics, character acting, and the 12 principles of animation.
• Provide constructive technical and artistic feedback to support the Cinematics team.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in game development, television, or film using Maya or an equivalent 3D program.
• High-quality demo reel showing hand-keyed animation, strong body mechanics, and engaging performances.
• Mastery of the 12 principles of animation, with a strong understanding of body mechanics and character acting.
• Experience collaborating with directors, animation supervisors, and leads on high-end cinematic animation.
• Passion for film, animation, and video games, along with strong communication and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

• Storyboarding, gesture drawing, 2D animation, or composition skills.
• Rigging, scripting, and pipeline knowledge.
• Acting, martial arts, or choreography experience.
• Cinematography, pre-visualization, editing, or story writing skills.
• Understanding of FX, particles, cloth, and hair in character performance.
