Data Scientist III (AI/NLP)

Salary: $95,300–$158,800 U.S. national base pay range; geographic differentials may apply.

What you will do

• Design and build machine learning, NLP, and generative AI systems for scientific discovery, knowledge extraction, decision support, and content understanding.
• Work with large-scale scientific publications, research datasets, knowledge graphs, ontologies, taxonomies, citations, metadata, and other heterogeneous content.
• Develop semantic search, information retrieval, entity extraction, classification, recommendation, ranking, summarization, question answering, and evidence-grounded generation capabilities.
• Build, evaluate, fine-tune, prompt, and integrate models into robust production systems.
• Write tested Python and develop reusable data science components and scalable pipelines for preprocessing, inference, experimentation, monitoring, and improvement.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, UX, analytics, research, and domain experts while communicating model behavior, trade-offs, and recommendations.

Requirements

• Experience in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, NLP, statistics, applied mathematics, computer science, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience with frontier LLMs such as OpenAI GPT, Anthropic Claude, and Google Gemini, including fine-tuning LLMs and/or SLMs.
• Strong Python skills and experience writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code.
• Knowledge of supervised and unsupervised learning, feature engineering, model evaluation, model selection, and performance measurement.
• Experience with large-scale structured, semi-structured, or unstructured text and content datasets.
• Familiarity with Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Matplotlib, along with strong analytical and communication skills.
