Analytical Chemist (Rocket Motor Manufacturing)

Location: Onsite in Pueblo, Colorado, with possible travel between Penrose and Pueblo locations. Applicants must be a U.S. Person eligible to obtain and maintain required State and Federal explosives licenses and export authorizations.

Salary: $55,000–$70,000 USD annual base salary.

What you will do

• Perform chemical and physical testing of raw materials, in-process oxidizers, and final composite materials according to MILSPEC standards.
• Generate Certificates of Analysis and support final acceptance testing for rocket motor manufacturing.
• Develop and implement chemical production processes, sampling methods, and laboratory test procedures.
• Conduct mechanical property, thermal stability, raw material, and particle-size analyses.
• Manage sample chain of custody, traceability, experimental data, technical reports, SOPs, test worksheets, and batch records.
• Support laboratory equipment selection, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and updates to MILSPEC procedures with government scientists.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field with 3–4 years of analytical laboratory experience, or a master’s degree with 1–2 years of experience.
• Experience with analytical instrumentation such as ICP-OES, load frames, bomb calorimeters, and gravimetric analysis equipment.
• Experience with chemical safety reviews, oxidizers or other energetic or hazardous materials, and quality documentation.
• Experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems for sample tracking and data management.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Must be at least 21, pass pre-employment drug and State and Federal background checks, and be eligible to obtain required explosives licenses and export authorizations.
