What you will do
- Own the mission-system requirements baseline, from CONOPS and requirement derivation through KPP traceability.
- Architect functional, logical, and physical mission-system decomposition across sensors, datalinks, autonomy, navigation, communications, and effects.
- Define interfaces and ICDs, run SWaP-C, timing, latency, link, and power trade studies, and support defensible technical decisions.
- Drive verification and validation by defining methods, maintaining the verification matrix, and demonstrating capabilities in simulation and on test platforms.
- Author vendor-facing specifications for Canadian suppliers and technically evaluate delivered solutions.
- Maintain configuration and change control across the evolving program while collaborating directly with operators and multidisciplinary engineers.
Requirements
- Experience with systems engineering across requirements, architecture, interfaces, verification, and validation on complex multidisciplinary systems.
- Mission-systems knowledge spanning sensors, tactical datalinks, mission computing, autonomy, navigation, communications, and effects.
- Requirements engineering aligned with ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148, including traceability, interface ownership, and MBSE/SysML.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760, ARINC 429, and ARINC 664/AFDX.
- Experience or knowledge in airworthiness and safety assurance, including ARP4754A and functional hazard assessment.
- Operational or tactical background, Link-16 expertise, architecture frameworks, hardware and software lifecycles, or test and flight-test exposure are relevant; defence experience is not required.
