Base Capital Project Engineer Intern (Energy)

Location: On-site at Pawnee Powerplant in Brush, Colorado; in-person commuting to the designated work location is required under the hybrid work policy.

Salary: $21.20–$23.20 per hour

What you will do

• Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and reliability improvement initiatives.
• Conduct field inspections, collect equipment data, and assist with engineering investigations.
• Analyze plant performance, emissions, and maintenance data to identify safety, reliability, and efficiency opportunities.
• Use engineering drawings, technical specifications, and operating documentation to identify appropriate hardware.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, contractors, and engineering staff to complete projects and resolve technical challenges.
• Present project findings and recommendations to local leadership.

Requirements

• Current sophomore-level student or higher as of Fall 2027.
• Enrollment in an ABET-accredited college or university.
• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
• Ability to commute to and work in person at Pawnee Powerplant in Brush, Colorado.
• Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer and up to 20 hours per week during the school year.
• The internship starts May 31, 2027, and may be extended based on performance and business needs.
