Senior Manager, Detection & Response (AI Security)

Location: Hybrid, with presence required 4 days per week at the Bellevue, San Francisco, or San Jose office; Tuesday is the designated work-from-home day.

Annual salary: $324,000–$432,000 for Bellevue; $360,000–$480,000 for San Francisco or San Jose.

What you will do

• Build, hire, and lead a Detection & Response team providing 24/7 operational coverage.
• Define threat management frameworks, incident response processes, escalation paths, and triage protocols.
• Develop automation-first security operations, threat hunting capabilities, and AI-powered detection using LLMs.
• Partner with Product and Platform Engineering to secure multi-cloud and bare-metal infrastructure.
• Lead critical-event collaboration, executive reporting, and blameless post-incident reviews.
• Set the team’s six-month roadmap, operational metrics, on-call model, and measurable success criteria.

Requirements

• 10+ years of security experience and 5+ years leading technical teams.
• Experience building security programs, team processes, technical frameworks, and cross-functional partnerships from the ground up.
• Strong background in automation-first security operations and reducing repetitive work.
• Understanding of the security requirements of cloud infrastructure providers.
• Sound judgment in security response and the ability to communicate technical risk through business-aligned metrics.
• Ability to work from and regularly attend one of the Bellevue, San Francisco, or San Jose offices.

Nice to have

• Experience building Detection & Response programs at AI/ML companies.
• Experience using AI/ML for security operations automation.
• Experience scaling security during hypergrowth and making security tooling build-versus-buy decisions.
• Experience with SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, HIPAA/HITECH, or FedRAMP audits.
• Deep technical background enabling hands-on contribution when needed.
