Strategic Finance Controller – Business Cases, Pricing & Make/Buy

Location: Detroit, Michigan, United States. Hybrid schedule: 4 days per week in-office and 1 day remote. Applicants may work in or relocate to Detroit; relocation assistance is not available.

Starting salary: $104,000–$133,000 USD annually, depending on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What you will do

• Lead Make-versus-Buy strategies and analyses, including cost modeling, profitability assessments, sourcing alternatives, and recommendations.
• Develop and present business cases, investment analyses, operational footprint recommendations, scenario analyses, and sensitivity assessments.
• Lead profitability and value-chain analysis across products, programs, and business segments in partnership with Pricing, Purchasing, Operations, and Remanufacturing.
• Own product-costing methodologies, cost models, financial validation, transfer pricing governance, and pricing approval processes.
• Support external business quotations through cost validation, profitability assessment, and strategic pricing recommendations.
• Lead cross-functional governance, continuous improvement initiatives, ERP and process-standardization improvements, benchmarking, and special projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business analytics, data science, business, or a related field.
• At least four years of experience in strategic finance, operations controlling, FP&A, product costing, purchasing finance, or a related discipline.
• Experience developing financial models, strategic business cases, and scenario analyses for executive decision-making.
• Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate executive-level insights.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver accurate, decision-ready analysis within established deadlines.
• Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States; visa sponsorship and applications from existing visa holders are not accepted.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, business analytics, data science, or a related field.
• Experience with product costing, profitability analysis, transfer pricing, pricing methodology, or Make-versus-Buy analysis.
• Experience with Business Intelligence, ERP, workflow automation, or data visualization tools.
• Experience in aftermarket parts and services, manufacturing, remanufacturing, commercial vehicle operations, or plant and operations controlling.
