Principal Program Manager, Engineering Operations (Software Systems)

Location: Westminster, Colorado, United States. U.S. Person status is required, defined as U.S. citizen, permanent resident, Asylee, or Refugee. Certain work may be subject to U.S. export control and ITAR requirements.

Salary: $135,000–$180,000–$198,000 annually for Colorado-based employment. The position is also incentive eligible.

What you will do

• Lead the technical design and delivery of complex, cross-domain software systems.
• Define system architecture, integration strategies, interfaces, dependencies, and technical direction across multiple engineering teams.
• Translate ambiguous customer, mission, and business problems into scalable technical solutions.
• Lead architecture reviews and trade studies while making decisions across customer outcomes, technical risk, delivery schedules, cost, and maintainability.
• Drive systems from concept through integration, validation, operational readiness, and customer adoption.
• Improve engineering standards, practices, governance, and technical leadership through mentoring and influence.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Significant experience architecting and delivering large-scale, software-intensive systems.
• Deep understanding of modern software architecture, distributed systems, APIs, cloud-native architectures, scalability, resiliency, observability, security, and operations.
• Experience leading cross-functional technical initiatives, architecture reviews, trade studies, integration strategies, and validation approaches.
• Ability to communicate with engineers, architects, product leaders, customers, senior leaders, and executives, and to lead through influence.
• Must meet U.S. Person eligibility requirements and any applicable export-control or ITAR conditions.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud-native platforms, Kubernetes, distributed data systems, or event-driven architectures.
• Experience with AI-assisted software development and agentic engineering workflows.
• Background in high-availability, mission-critical, geospatial, aerospace, defense, robotics, autonomous, or other complex mission domains.
• Experience with systems-of-systems integration, platform engineering, developer platforms, or internal engineering infrastructure.
• Experience with sovereign, on-premises, disconnected, hybrid, model-based, or digitally enabled systems engineering environments.
