Spring 2027 Data Science Intern (AI)

Location: Washington, DC; on-site five days a week for the full six-month term. Co-ops outside the DC metro area receive housing and relocation support. U.S. Person status is required, and visa sponsorship is not provided.

Salary: $25.00 per hour plus a $2,000 monthly housing stipend, less applicable withholdings and deductions.

What you will do

• Frame business and engineering questions with stakeholders and source, clean, and explore relevant data.
• Build and validate forecasting, classification, anomaly-detection, and decision-analysis models for megaproject cost, schedule, and risk.
• Engineer features and extend the Nuclear Operating System ontology and data model across regulatory, supply chain, cost, and schedule domains.
• Build data pipelines across Palantir Foundry, AWS GovCloud, and other data platforms.
• Design metrics, dashboards, and analyses used by operators, engineers, and executives to make decisions, and communicate findings clearly.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a BS or MS program in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Math, or a related quantitative field.
• Available for the full six-month Spring 2027 co-op from January through June and returning to school afterward.
• Strong Python and data-stack skills, including pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn, plus working knowledge of SQL.
• Foundation in statistics and probability and completed data-analysis experience through coursework, research, personal projects, or internships.
• Must be willing and able to work on-site in Washington, DC, five days a week.
• U.S. Person status is required due to U.S. export-control requirements; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with data visualization, dashboarding, or cloud data warehouses.
• Exposure to forecasting, time-series analysis, experimental design, Palantir Foundry, or AWS.
• Interest in energy, national security, industrial software, regulated industries, or nuclear engineering concepts.
