Health and Safety Officer - inVision

Location: Onsite in Almaty, Kazakhstan

What you will do

• Build and maintain the HSE system, policies, instructions, reporting, and inspection processes in line with Kazakhstan’s Labor Code.
• Conduct workplace risk assessments, SOUT certification, safety audits, and corrective actions across offices, academic buildings, laboratories, and dormitories.
• Deliver employee inductions and safety training, as well as safety briefings for students in academic and laboratory spaces.
• Manage PPE issuance and use, fire safety compliance, evacuation plans, and emergency drills.
• Oversee facility operations, maintenance, cleaning, engineering systems, repairs, consumables, equipment, and PPE supplies.
• Manage vendors and contractors, including scopes of work, quotes, contracts, budgets, and acceptance of completed work.

Requirements

• Higher education in a technical, engineering, occupational health, or safety-related field.
• 3–5 years of HSE experience; experience building an HSE function from scratch is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of Kazakhstan’s Labor Code, fire safety regulations, and SOUT procedures.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and confident communication with students, employees, landlords, and regulators.
• Required certifications: Kazakhstan HSE Specialist, fire-technical minimum, first aid, civil defense and emergency response, and electrical safety; certifications must be held or obtainable promptly.

Nice to have

• Experience in educational institutions or campuses with a large student population.
• Laboratory safety experience.
• Facility management experience, including operations, procurement, and contractor or landlord relations.
