Senior Payroll Accountant

Location: Budapest, Hungary; hybrid role

What you will do

• Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries for accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Record payroll transactions according to US GAAP and local accounting requirements.
• Partner with external payroll providers to assess payroll components and their accounting impact.
• Prepare and review payroll-related accruals, including vacation, incentives, pensions, and local requirements.
• Reconcile payroll-related balance sheet and profit and loss accounts, investigate variances, and support month-end close.
• Maintain stakeholder relationships and support compliance, audits, internal controls, SOX requirements, and process improvements.

Requirements

• 4–5 years of relevant experience in accounting, payroll accounting, or a related finance role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and core accounting processes.
• Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong analytical and attention-to-detail capabilities.
• Excellent English communication skills, written and verbal.

Nice to have

• Experience in a multinational or shared services environment.
• Knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems.
• Experience supporting audits and internal control frameworks.
