Jun/Mid Level Backend Engineer (EV Charging)

Salary: Up to 46,000 DKK gross/month, depending on seniority level

What you will do

• Build and maintain backend services for OCPP charge point communication, protocol handling, message processing, device state, and hardware-vendor integrations.
• Debug field issues by analyzing OCPP traffic, reproducing failures with an emulator, and implementing fixes.
• Work with OCPP 1.6, OCPP 2.0.1, and OCPI standards used across services and frontends.
• Improve observability through metrics, dashboards, alerting, and monitoring.
• Automate manual operational work and participate in on-call after ramp-up.
• Collaborate with Product, Support, and Operations teams.

Requirements

• 1–4 years of backend engineering experience or a strong junior track record with production exposure.
• Comfort with a JVM language; Kotlin is preferred and Java is acceptable.
• Willingness to work with PHP in the legacy Laravel monolith.
• Strong debugging skills covering logs, traces, packet-level details, and customer-specific failures.
• Ownership of work through production, including monitoring and early problem reporting.
• Professional spoken and written English is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with OCPP, OCPI, EV charging, IoT, embedded, telemetry, or other field-device systems.
• Experience with Kafka, high-volume message processing, Prometheus, Grafana, SLOs, Kubernetes, Terraform, or infrastructure as code.
• Advanced and deliberate use of AI tools in engineering workflows.
