What you will do
- Prepare, handle, store, retain, and dispose of samples according to established procedures.
- Perform routine and high-throughput analysis using LCMS, HPLC, GC, ICP-MS, NIR, and wet chemistry techniques.
- Operate laboratory instruments, maintain equipment and quality-control records, and report analytical results in SLIMS or designated worksheets.
- Plan testing activities, monitor chemicals and consumables, evaluate results against quality-control specifications, and meet sample turnaround requirements.
- Support method development, modification, validation, and implementation in line with ISO 17025 requirements.
- Assist with training and supervision of laboratory technicians, assistants, and interns.
Requirements
- National Diploma or BSc qualification in Chemistry or Food Technology.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in LCMS, HPLC, GC, ICP-MS, or wet chemistry techniques in an ISO 17025-accredited food testing laboratory.
- Strong capabilities in analytical method development, validation, and implementation.
- Analytical Chemistry experience supporting nutritional and chemical composition testing across food value chains.
- Code 8 driver's license; must not be colour blind.
- Systematic, thorough, accurate, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively in a team.
Nice to have
- BSc Honours or Master's degree in Chemistry.
- SACNASP registration.
