TL;DR
Principal Software Engineer (AI/Cloud): Architecting, developing, and modernizing enterprise software solutions supporting power generation, business operations, and digital transformation with an accent on distributed systems, cloud adoption, AI integration, and operational resiliency. Focus on designing large-scale services, migrating workloads to cloud platforms, architecting application integrations, and maintaining highly available systems in regulated environments.
Location: Hybrid in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania; Baltimore, Maryland; Chicago, Illinois; Warrenville, Illinois; Houston, Texas; or De Pere, Wisconsin
Salary: $138,600–$154,000 per year, depending on experience, plus bonus and comprehensive benefits.

What you will do
- Lead the architecture, design, development, and modernization of enterprise software solutions supporting power generation and digital transformation.
- Drive multiple technical initiatives through delivery, remove obstacles, and provide production support for high-value applications across portfolios.
- Design large-scale distributed software services, integrations, and platforms while improving software engineering practices.
- Lead cloud expansion and workload migrations, including Azure, GCP, and Appian environments.
- Architect integrations for generation applications, including opportunities for AI adoption.
- Mentor engineers, promote code reuse and knowledge sharing, and collaborate with business stakeholders, cybersecurity, infrastructure, product, and engineering teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a technical program with 8 years of experience, or 12 years of equivalent experience without the degree.
- At least 8 years of experience in a technical specialty and 3 years architecting distributed systems.
- Experience migrating on-premises workloads to the cloud, such as GCP.
- At least 10 years of enterprise application production support and software design and development experience across multiple applications.
- At least 10 years working with backend and database services, including SQL or NoSQL databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, Cosmos DB, MySQL, Redis, or Splunk.
- At least 9 years of hands-on experience with object-oriented programming languages or application technologies including Python, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Node, .NET, HTML, AngularJS, Swift, Xamarin, or mobile platforms.
Nice to have
- Azure, Appian PaaS, DevOps, Agile Scrum, Kanban, data lakes, data warehouses, or Databricks experience.
- Experience architecting AI integrations and developing highly available services.
- Experience working in regulated operational environments.
- Strong analytical, communication, prioritization, and product or project ownership skills.
