Actuarial Intern (Summer 2027)

Location: Hybrid in Baltimore, MD; Cedar Rapids, IA; or Philadelphia, PA, United States. Tuesday through Thursday in the office; Monday and Friday work from home.

Salary: $24.00–$29.00 per hour, plus an intern allowance that may offset relocation, housing, parking/transit, and mileage costs.

What you will do

• Compile data for experience analyses and prepare related reports.
• Assess product designs for marketplace feasibility and price new and existing products against profit goals.
• Translate product specifications into valuation assumptions and assist with statutory, GAAP, tax, and reserving requirements.
• Support ALM risk profiles, investment income budgets, reserve adequacy testing, and other actuarial valuations.
• Build and run computer asset/liability models using actuarial modeling software.
• Convert actuarial systems to new platforms and automate processes with programs or macros.

Requirements

• Current full-time freshman, sophomore, or junior student, ideally majoring in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Statistics.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills, initiative, attention to detail, and written and oral communication skills.
• Ability and desire to work in a team environment.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet applications.
• Knowledge of at least one programming language and/or Visual Basic, with knowledge of R, Python, or similar database applications.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without immigration sponsorship or employer-of-record immigration services.

Nice to have

• At least one completed SOA exam by the time of the internship.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Access or other database applications.
• Previous or current leadership experience.
