Senior Software Engineer Backend (PHP)

Location: Hybrid, based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Candidates must be based in the Netherlands, hold an EU passport, or already have a valid visa to work in the Netherlands. No relocation support is provided.

What you will do

• Build and improve backend services and APIs powering the ticket marketplace.
• Develop product features for web and mobile users, including ticket file support and event creation flows.
• Scale and maintain a reliable, secure, and high-performing platform.
• Contribute to event-driven architecture and asynchronous systems.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, frontend, mobile, and engineering colleagues.
• Improve code quality, developer experience, tooling, and platform reliability through testing, code reviews, and technical standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Strong experience with PHP and relational databases such as MySQL.
• Experience with Git and modern development workflows.
• Commitment to clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Collaborative, proactive, curious approach to solving user and technical problems.
• Based in the Netherlands, an EU passport, or a valid visa to work in the Netherlands is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Symfony.
• Experience with React, mobile development, AWS, Kubernetes, or DevOps tooling.
