TL;DR
AI & Data Science Intern (Generative AI, Python, Azure): Developing and deploying predictive machine learning models and generative AI applications for R&D, finance, manufacturing, legal, and environment/safety functions with an accent on data preparation, hybrid search, RAG, and production enterprise deployment. Focus on evaluating chemical-property models, building multi-agent systems and user interfaces, and integrating AI solutions with process-control workflows.
Location: US remote; Wilmington, Delaware, with remote work possible for outstanding candidates. Must be able to work 8am–5pm East Coast Time.

What you will do
- Develop predictive models using Azure tools such as Microsoft Fabric and Azure ML Studio.
- Prepare and analyze datasets in Python with pandas and scikit-learn, and participate in dataset design and statistical modeling discussions.
- Integrate process-control solutions with data science models.
- Design and deploy generative AI applications in enterprise production environments, including RAG and hybrid-search solutions.
- Collaborate on small full-stack applications and build efficient UI/UX workflows using technologies such as React, Flask, or Streamlit.
- Evaluate chemical-property prediction models, improve GenAI retrieval accuracy, and design multi-agent systems with guardrails.
Requirements
- Enrollment in or recent completion of a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, AI, Software Engineering, Computational Chemistry, or a closely related field.
- At least 2 years of Python programming experience, including pandas and scikit-learn.
- At least 1 year of practical experience building predictive machine learning models and/or developing generative AI applications using RAG, hybrid search, or application UIs.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to present findings to non-technical audiences.
- Full-time availability for 40 hours per week and no simultaneous coursework during the internship.
Nice to have
- Master’s, PhD, or post-doctoral study, or the ability to continue for at least 6 months.
- Enterprise experience deploying applications and GenAI agents with Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS.
- Experience with Azure OpenAI, HTML, Visual Studio Code, Chainlit, JavaScript, Streamlit, and SQL databases.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher and strong analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
