Senior Ethics & Compliance Counsel

Location: Shanghai, China 200036; travel up to 10% of the time

What you will do

• Advise business and functional clients on anti-corruption and other ethics and compliance matters, including higher-risk transactions.
• Support third-party selection, screening, due diligence, red-flag mitigation plans, compliance clauses, and partner communications.
• Lead or contribute to Business Conduct Committee activities, including agendas, metrics, reporting, and project discussions.
• Build compliance culture through training plans, employee communications, leadership engagement, and speak-up initiatives.
• Plan and execute risk assessments, compliance evaluations, regional initiatives, and global special projects.
• Coordinate complex or sensitive investigations and provide guidance on employee disposition and business remediation.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer with at least 12 years of professional experience.
• Leadership experience overseeing regional or multi-country compliance programs and leading compliance professionals.
• Experience advising independently, leading projects, improving compliance culture, and developing organizational capability.
• Strong strategic thinking, analytical, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Knowledge of trade compliance, particularly export controls and sanctions, plus experience engaging government agencies, industry groups, or external counsel.
• Fluent English and Chinese required; work location is Shanghai.

• Experience developing compliance analytics, dashboards, and KPIs.
