Director, Production (Broadcast)

Location: Mobile, Alabama, United States; able to work any shift, including in-studio, station, field, and on-location assignments.

What you will do

• Plan and execute live and pre-recorded newscasts, programs, segments, digital streams, social media streams, and special projects.
• Direct breaking news, continuous news, and severe weather coverage with accuracy, urgency, and editorial judgment.
• Program and coordinate sets, cameras, lighting, virtual reality elements, graphics, video, and other production assets.
• Prepare, monitor, troubleshoot, and assist with maintaining studio equipment and set elements.
• Edit video for newscasts, television programs, digital distribution, and social media.
• Document production, captioning, accuracy, and technical issues while communicating with studio, station, field, regional, bureau, and national control-hub teams.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience directing or technically directing live newscasts, breaking news, and severe weather coverage is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of television production techniques, video editing, media-file management, and live-source routing.
• Experience with Ross Overdrive or other automated production systems, Ross Expression or other broadcast graphics systems, OBS, and vMix is preferred.
• Superior video editing skills are required; Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Creative Suite knowledge are preferred.
• Strong real-time technical and editorial decision-making, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Fluent English, availability for any shift, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record are required.

Nice to have

• Academic degree or technical certification in production, digital media, social media, film, journalism, or a related field.
• Computer coding experience and the ability to teach others to use technology.
