Forward Deployed Software Engineer (Warehouse Innovation)

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio, United States; hybrid schedule with up to 10% travel for occasional on-site warehouse visits

Salary: $85,000–$122,200 per year

What you will do

• Design and implement software for volume forecasting, yard truck routing, labor management, orchestration, and physical machinery integration.
• Build production-quality Python backend services and React or Vue frontend applications.
• Design data models, APIs, integrations, and algorithms for complex warehouse workflows.
• Partner with warehouse operations stakeholders to translate operational challenges into engineering requirements and validate solutions.
• Collaborate with platform engineering to architect, deploy, and scale systems across North American warehouse sites.
• Contribute to the internal Warehouse Execution System, including AI-enabled product capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a similar field.
• 1–3 years of software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python for backend development and experience building user interfaces with React or Vue.
• Comfort using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, including the ability to work with non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work from the Cincinnati, Ohio office on a hybrid schedule; immigration sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Kubernetes or containerized deployment environments.
• Experience integrating AI/ML components into production systems, such as forecasting, routing optimization, or LLM-powered features.
• Background in supply chain, logistics, industrial engineering, warehouse, fulfillment, or manufacturing environments.
