Operations Support Engineer - USDS NOC (Kubernetes)

Location: San Jose, United States; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days a week

Salary: $118,657–$259,200 annually, plus potential discretionary bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Deploy software and configuration changes to servers in collaboration with internal teams.
• Provide daily operational and Tier-1 support for mission-critical production systems and services.
• Monitor system health and performance, respond to incidents and alerts, and communicate resolution progress.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, including night shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Automate routine tasks, document operational processes, and support team training.
• Analyze troubleshooting patterns, improve workflows, and lead project-based operational work.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is mandatory.
• Experience with Linux/Unix server administration and application support.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker and container technologies, microservices, databases, web services, and monitoring solutions.
• Strong analytical, written, and communication skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure.
• Proficiency in automation and effective teamwork.
• Familiarity with incident reviews, big data technologies, networking troubleshooting, and monitoring best practices is preferred.
