TL;DR
Avionics Technician II (Aerospace): Installing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing aircraft avionics systems in Hagerstown with an accent on hands-on maintenance, wiring, and regulatory compliance. Focus on diagnosing complex equipment issues, interpreting technical schematics, maintaining precise records, and supporting secure aerospace and defense operations.

Location: Hagerstown, Maryland, United States; onsite. Relocation assistance is available.

Salary: $26.39–$36.29 per hour.

What you will do

  • Install and maintain aircraft avionics equipment independently.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and test avionics systems and components.
  • Interpret technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and publications, including wire-routing drawings.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance with FCC, FAA, and company regulations.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and technical manuals in good working condition.
  • Assist with training junior technicians.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of relevant experience; a higher-level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Knowledge of electronic principles, avionics installation, wiring, wiring repair, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Experience with soldering and crimping, plus the ability to use avionics installation tooling.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and work accurately with small components and tools.
  • Must provide own tools in good working order.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Associate’s degree in avionics, electronics, or a related field.
  • Advanced soldering skills and experience with electronic test equipment.
  • Familiarity with FCC requirements and the FCC General Radio Operator License.
  • Understanding of spectrometers, oscilloscopes, and/or pitot-static equipment.
  • Experience in aerospace and defense, the U.S. Department of Defense, or the U.S. military.
