Refining Area Inspector

Location: Carson/Wilmington, California, United States; onsite Monday–Thursday, 10-hour shifts. Core hours are 6:00 AM–4:30 PM, with extended hours, on-call support for five full weeks per year, and support for turnarounds and planned or unplanned outages.

Salary: $106,900–$184,300 per year.

What you will do

• Conduct hands-on field inspections of pressure vessels, piping circuits, boilers, and other fixed equipment.
• Plan, perform, and direct inspections; evaluate equipment condition; and recommend repair, replacement, or mitigation measures.
• Maintain equipment files and collaborate with the RBI Analyst to keep risk assessments current.
• Develop scopes and supporting documentation for routine maintenance, major repairs, turnarounds, and other mechanical integrity work.
• Complete Management of Change and INTELEX tasks, document as-found and as-left conditions, and support risk-based work planning.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and area teams on reliability projects, root cause analysis, HAZOPs, and specialty mechanical integrity programs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED completed before the start date.
• At least five years of area inspection experience in a refinery or petrochemical facility, preferably as an owner/operator inspector focused on fixed equipment.
• Current API 510 and API 570 certifications; ability to obtain NBIC Certification and a State of California Certificate of Competency.
• Knowledge of Risk-Based Inspection methodologies aligned with API 580 and API 581, plus proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong facilitation, leadership, communication, and coordination skills across operations, maintenance, and engineering.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without future visa sponsorship. A valid driver’s license, ability to wear PPE including a respirator, physical field capability, and successful completion of a hair drug test and physical examination are required.

Nice to have

• NBIC Certification and a State of California Certificate of Competency.
• Experience with API 653, API 571, API 580, API 581, NBIC, ASNT Level II methods, UTT, RTFI, MT, and PT.
• Turnaround planning and execution experience, inspection software experience with Meridium, APM, or PCMS, and knowledge of RAGAGEP.
