Head of Translational Medicine (Oncology)

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States; 70% in-office work model

Salary: $272,200–$490,100 per year, plus potential annual bonus, incentive compensation, or equity award

What you will do

• Define and lead an integrated translational strategy across discovery, clinical development, and lifecycle management.
• Unify biological insights, biomarker strategies, quantitative pharmacology, and clinical translation to support portfolio decisions.
• Lead a large, multidisciplinary organization spanning translational medicine, translational research, clinical pharmacology, and pharmacometrics.
• Direct early clinical translation, including biomarker implementation, endpoint development, patient stratification, and proof-of-concept decisions.
• Advance molecular assays, sequencing, immune monitoring, companion diagnostics, and translational data packages for IND readiness.
• Guide PK/PD, exposure-response analysis, modeling and simulation, dose prediction, trial design, and regulatory interactions.

Requirements

• Advanced degree such as PhD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline.
• 15+ years of experience across translational science, clinical pharmacology, and/or drug development, including at least 10 years in leadership.
• Deep expertise in translational medicine, biomarker strategy, experimental medicine, and quantitative pharmacology.
• Demonstrated success influencing dose selection, study design, development strategy, and regulatory interactions.
• Strong publication record and ability to represent the organization to the scientific community.
• Experience leading large multidisciplinary teams, mentoring and hiring scientists, and working in a complex matrix environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with companion diagnostics.
• Leadership experience contributing to BLAs for oncology or immunology programs.
• Expertise in immunology, oncology, or autoimmune disease.
• Network of external academic experts.
