TL;DR
Staff Software Engineer - Back End (AI) (Java, Cloud, Microservices): Architecting and developing scalable, secure backend applications and services with an accent on microservices, cloud deployment, database design, and AI integration. Focus on launching AI integrations in production, monitoring their impact, building durable cross-system solutions, and mentoring junior engineers.
Location: New York, New York, United States
Base pay: $202,500–$274,000 per year, with potential cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do
- Drive significant technology initiatives end to end across multiple architectural layers.
- Architect and develop scalable, secure, maintainable applications, services, and platforms.
- Design durable software solutions that address critical customer problems and integrate with numerous systems.
- Recommend application, platform, and developer-tool best practices while experimenting with emerging technologies.
- Integrate AI into applications, launch AI capabilities in production, and evaluate performance and user satisfaction using appropriate metrics.
- Collaborate with global cross-functional teams and coach junior engineers on software engineering and AI practices.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of experience delivering enterprise-class applications.
- Proficiency in Java or other mid-tier programming languages, with strong knowledge of algorithms and design patterns.
- Experience with test automation, including TDD and unit, integration, and functional testing.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL database design, relational database implementation, analytics, microservices, containers, Kubernetes or similar systems, and cloud environments.
- Experience building or integrating AI models using techniques such as LLM prompting or AutoML, and monitoring AI performance in production.
Nice to have
- Prior experience in utility computing or cloud computing domains.
- Experience with cross-browser, cross-platform, accessibility, internationalization, and instrumentation constraints.
