TL;DR
Outside Auto Appraiser (Auto Claims): Inspecting, estimating, negotiating, and evaluating basic to moderate vehicle and equipment damage claims in the greater Plymouth, Massachusetts area with an accent on accurate valuations, repair process management, and customer settlements. Focus on field inspections, total-loss calculations, claim documentation, and catastrophe deployments requiring extended travel.
Location: 100% remote, servicing the greater Plymouth, Massachusetts area; the role includes mobile field work, travel to vehicle or equipment locations, and possible catastrophe deployments to other states for a minimum of 16 days.
Annual salary: $63,800–$105,400, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentives.

What you will do
- Inspect vehicles and equipment and assess physical damage for personal and commercial auto claims.
- Prepare accurate damage appraisals, actual cash value assessments, replacement values, reserves, and settlement calculations.
- Use estimating and evaluation software and company resources to determine claim values.
- Negotiate claim values, repair costs, total-loss settlements, deductibles, rental reimbursement, and related payments with customers and repair facilities.
- Partner with Claim Professionals from investigation through recovery, applying policy conditions, exclusions, endorsements, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide inspection assistance across other lines of business and participate in catastrophe response deployments.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and at least one year of auto appraisal experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Strong knowledge of auto repair techniques, vehicle terminology, and construction.
- Strong mathematical, negotiation, analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage unscheduled travel and extended catastrophe deployments with minimal notice.
- State appraiser and claim-handling licenses may be required; required licenses generally must be obtained within three months of starting.
Nice to have
- Associate's, bachelor's, or technical school degree.
- Two years of auto appraisal experience, preferably with an insurance carrier.
- Experience with claims appraisal systems, claim operations, Windows, Excel, and Word.
