TL;DR
AI Engineer (Generative AI/RAG): Designing, developing and deploying production-grade AI applications, platform components and intelligent services across BlueScope's global operations with an accent on Generative AI, RAG systems, agentic workflows and computer vision. Focus on secure enterprise integration, retrieval quality and evaluation, observability, scalability, and responsible AI governance.
Location: Melbourne CBD or Sydney Mascot, Australia

What you will do
- Design, develop and support production-grade AI applications, assistants, copilots and intelligent services.
- Build enterprise Generative AI capabilities, including RAG systems and agentic AI workflows.
- Develop scalable AI products that improve operational performance, productivity and decision-making.
- Create reusable AI platform components, frameworks, engineering standards, templates and best practices.
- Support computer vision solutions for operational and manufacturing use cases.
- Integrate AI products with enterprise systems while ensuring security, maintainability, scalability and responsible AI alignment.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
- Production software, AI engineering, platform engineering or related technical experience, including designing, testing, deploying, monitoring and supporting systems.
- Strong Python development skills and experience building production applications, APIs, services or reusable engineering components.
- Experience applying AI, machine learning or Generative AI to business challenges and developing enterprise applications or digital products.
- Experience with Azure and Databricks, plus AI engineering frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex.
- Knowledge of MLOps, DevOps, secure cloud integration, identity and access management, CI/CD, observability, testing and operational support.
