Data Engineering Solutions Lead (Databricks)

Location: Remote, based in Houston or Austin, Texas; candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. The role includes approximately 20% travel to other business sites.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and manage scalable data pipelines for large-scale ingestion, processing, and storage.
• Architect and operationalize Databricks Lakehouse solutions using Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medallion Architecture layers.
• Build and optimize data models, ETL/ELT workflows, databases, and cloud data infrastructure across AWS and Azure.
• Support data scientists with infrastructure and Python or R-based data processing tools for analytics and machine learning projects.
• Implement data governance, encryption, masking, access controls, lineage, and data quality practices.
• Lead the Data Management Community of Practice, establish best practices, and communicate with technical and business stakeholders.

Requirements

• U.S. work authorization is required at the time of hire; employer visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.
• Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of data engineering experience, or a master’s degree with 5+ years of experience.
• Required experience with Medallion Architecture in Databricks Lakehouse environments, including layer transitions, data quality, and optimization.
• Strong knowledge of Databricks, Dataiku, AWS, Azure, Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, ETL/ELT, and RDBMS technologies.
• Proficiency in SQL and data engineering languages including Python, Java, and Scala.
• Strong communication and executive presence, with experience leading communities of practice and presenting to senior leadership.

Nice to have

• Experience with machine learning model deployment and management.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification.
• Databricks Certified Associate Developer for Apache Spark certification.
• DAMA CDMP or another relevant certification.
