Software Engineer - Machine Learning Infrastructure - USDS

Location: Seattle, United States; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days a week

Salary: $129,960–$246,240 annually

What you will do

• Design and implement global-scale machine learning systems for feeds, ads, and search ranking models.
• Improve the usability and flexibility of machine learning infrastructure.
• Enhance model training and serving workflows, data pipelines, storage systems, and resource management for multi-tenant machine learning platforms.
• Design and develop key components of the machine learning infrastructure.
• Mentor interns and contribute to large-scale distributed systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field, or equivalent software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Go or Python, in a Linux environment.
• Practical experience developing machine learning systems with distributed scheduling, orchestration, or storage frameworks such as Kubernetes, YARN, Mesos, Celery, HDFS, Redis, or S3.
• Experience developing and deploying large-scale systems.
• Strong logical analysis, abstraction, decomposition, communication, learning, and documentation skills.

Nice to have

• Contributions to open-source machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Experience with big data frameworks such as Spark, Hadoop, or Flink.
• Experience with resource management, task scheduling, or machine learning lifecycle management systems such as TFX.
• Knowledge of distributed-system principles and experience maintaining large-scale distributed systems.
