Part Time News Producer

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. Onsite overnight role, likely from 12:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.; the station is not easily accessible by public transportation.

What you will do

• Produce daily newscasts, determine story order, balance news and feature content, and create rundowns.
• Coordinate with news management, producers, reporters, photographers, anchors, and control room staff.
• Write teases, broadcast scripts, and detailed web stories with useful links and additional information.
• Respond to breaking news, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure broadcasts are accurate and clean on air.
• Edit video using non-linear editing programs and check video formats for broadcast compatibility.
• Assign reporters and photographers as needed, fill in for other newscast producers, and help train less-experienced staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• At least two years of experience working in news.
• Fluent English with strong spelling and grammar, plus excellent verbal, written, grammatical, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in non-linear video editing.
• Ability to multitask, meet tight deadlines, remain calm under pressure, and respond urgently to breaking news.
• Ability to collaborate professionally with newsroom, production, engineering, and video staff.
