Software Engineer, Machine Learning Infrastructure - USDS (AI)

Location: San Jose, United States; fully in-person up to 5 days a week

Salary: $136,800–$359,720 annually, with potential bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Design and implement global-scale machine learning systems for feed, ads, and search ranking models.
• Improve the usability, flexibility, and reliability of machine learning infrastructure.
• Develop workflows for model training and serving, data pipelines, storage, and resource management.
• Build key components for multi-tenant machine learning systems and large-scale distributed platforms.
• Mentor interns and contribute to the development of next-generation AI infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field, or equivalent software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Go or Python in a Linux environment.
• Practical experience developing machine learning systems and large-scale systems.
• Experience with distributed scheduling, orchestration, and storage frameworks such as Kubernetes, Yarn, Mesos, Celery, HDFS, Redis, or S3.

Nice to have

• Contributions to an open-source machine learning framework such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Experience with Spark, Hadoop, or Flink, as well as resource management and task scheduling for large-scale distributed systems.
