Manager, Project Estimating - Power Generation & Energy Infrastructure

Location: Columbus, Ohio / Valparaiso, Indiana / project sites; hybrid work arrangement. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Salary: $133,400–$200,100 per year

What you will do

• Lead Class 5 through Class 1 estimates in accordance with AACE principles for major capital power and energy infrastructure projects.
• Prepare total installed cost estimates covering EPC, owner’s costs, contingency, escalation, labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and indirect costs.
• Translate engineering scope into cost drivers for gas generation, BESS, renewable energy, substations, transmission interconnections, and grid technologies.
• Support capital planning, integrated resource planning, regulatory filings, rate cases, investment approvals, technology selection, and constructability reviews.
• Perform benchmarking, estimate reconciliation, risk assessment, contingency development, and market analysis covering labor, commodities, equipment, and supply chain constraints.
• Present estimates to leadership and governance teams, develop independent cost estimates, evaluate contractor bids, and validate commercial changes and change orders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of cost-estimating experience, including at least 5 years supporting power generation, transmission, or energy infrastructure projects.
• Experience estimating large-scale capital projects valued at $100 million or more.
• Strong understanding of engineering design development, construction practices, execution strategies, procurement, and contracting.
• Proficiency with Aspen Capital Cost Estimator, InEight Estimate, Cleopatra, Sage, or similar tools, plus advanced Excel modeling.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience in a regulated utility environment and with IRP, rate cases, or regulatory filings.
• Estimating experience with CCGT, simple-cycle generation, BESS, renewable energy, or grid infrastructure.
• AACE CCP, PMP, or equivalent certification.
• Experience with EPC, EPCM, or owner’s project delivery models.
