Assistant Chief Engineer (Broadcast Engineering)

What you will do

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain studio, control room, master control, and live production systems.
• Trace and manage signal flow across the SDI plant, including routing, conversion, monitoring, and audio distribution.
• Support Ross OverDrive automation, production switchers, graphics systems, audio consoles, and broadcast-attached IT infrastructure.
• Maintain servers, workstations, shared storage, backups, switches, VLANs, and production networks in coordination with corporate IT.
• Support streaming and connected TV encoding, distribution, and monitoring while helping plan new delivery paths.
• Assist with facilities, transmitter and tower-site maintenance, technical projects, vendors, inventories, and service records.

Requirements

• Hands-on broadcast engineering, television technical operations, or live production technology experience, including signal tracing, cable termination, rack work, and test equipment.
• At least three years of relevant experience.
• Working knowledge of Windows systems and basic networking, including broadcast-attached networks.
• Composure and sound prioritization during live television operations.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work safely in studios, racks, catwalks, rooftops, and transmitter environments.
• Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, on-call availability, and willingness to respond after hours during severe weather and power events.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ross Carbonite or comparable production switchers.
• Familiarity with Windows Server and Active Directory.
• SBE certification or an FCC General Radiotelephone License.
• Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering, information technology, or a related field; equivalent hands-on experience is accepted.
