Lead Software Developer (Java)

Location: On-site in Lone Tree, Colorado, or Southlake, Texas, United States

Salary: USD $136,000–$152,000 per year, plus eligibility for bonus or incentive opportunities.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, enhance, and support secure, scalable enterprise applications in a data-centric environment.
• Build solutions with Java, full-stack technologies, REST APIs, Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Struts, Apache Tomcat, JSON, and XML.
• Apply design principles and patterns to create stable, reusable solutions.
• Strengthen application quality, security, maintainability, testing, and deployment workflows.
• Collaborate across distributed Agile teams, guide technical decisions, and mentor engineers.
• Support investment professionals working with portfolios, risk evaluation, trading, and compliance.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development experience using Java.
• Experience designing, building, testing, and supporting complex enterprise applications.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases, including Oracle, DB2, MongoDB, and Redis.
• Experience with unit testing, Git-based source control, CI/CD, branch management, merge-conflict resolution, and deployment workflows.
• Experience identifying and remediating application security risks using security testing tools and Java security libraries.
• Technical leadership, collaboration, problem-solving, Agile development, and mentoring experience; knowledge of investment and trading lifecycles is required.

Nice to have

• Full-stack development experience across data services and user interface technologies.
• Experience in financial services, investment management, portfolio management, trading, investment risk, or trade compliance applications.
• Open-source contributions or a public GitHub portfolio.
• Experience evaluating complex technical options and communicating recommendations across distributed engineering teams.
• Commitment to continuous learning and applying emerging technologies.
