Solar Performance Engineer

Location: São Paulo or Sorocaba, Brazil; hybrid

What you will do

• Execute and manage TrueCapture Benefit Evaluation activities.
• Compare field-measured TrueCapture gains with quoted and modeled gains, investigate discrepancies, and communicate results to customers.
• Manage customer schedules, reporting requirements, presentations, and queries.
• Improve analysis methods, data-cleaning techniques, and automation processes to scale measured-gain calculations.
• Monitor solar plant performance during field tests and ensure high-quality data collection.
• Analyze solar resource, production, and operational data; prepare reports and diagnose performance issues with the technical services team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, accounting, engineering, statistics, or a related discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience in performance engineering, data science, or analytics, including at least 1 year in the solar domain.
• Experience with utility-scale solar plant operations, maintenance data, performance reporting, performance metrics, and operational time-series analysis.
• Understanding of solar plant equipment and performance modeling, including irradiance, solar resource, sun position, transposition models, module technologies, and inverter behavior.
• Customer-facing experience, strong communication skills, project organization, analytical ability, and attention to detail.
• Advanced or fluent English, spoken and written, is required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Experience with PVsyst, PVLIB Python, NREL SAM, and other photovoltaic software and models.
• Experience correcting daylight-saving-time shifts and aligning multiple solar time series.
• Experience with web APIs, Excel, statistical packages, data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
