Application Database Administrator (Mid-Level/Senior) (MySQL/PostgreSQL): Managing and optimizing production database environments while supporting Agile sprint teams with an accent on data modeling, high availability, performance tuning, and incident response. Focus on designing scalable schemas, resolving complex production issues, and implementing backup, replication, and disaster recovery solutions.

What you will do
- Support Agile and Scrum sprint teams as the database subject matter expert.
- Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models, schemas, data dictionaries, and ERDs.
- Install, configure, maintain, and secure MySQL and PostgreSQL environments across development, test, staging, and production.
- Implement backup, recovery, replication, high availability, disaster recovery, patching, and upgrade strategies.
- Monitor and tune database performance, queries, indexes, execution plans, and configuration parameters.
- Provide primary production support, lead incident resolution and root cause analysis, and maintain change-management documentation and runbooks.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on production database administration experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Advanced SQL skills with query optimization and performance-tuning experience.
- Proficiency with Erwin or a similar data-modeling tool.
- Strong understanding of backup and recovery, security, replication, and high-availability architecture.
- Experience supporting Agile/Scrum teams, production incidents, database change management, and release processes.
Nice to have
- Experience with AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure Database, or GCP Cloud SQL.
- Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripting for DBA automation.
- Experience with Percona Monitoring and Management, pgAdmin, Datadog, or New Relic.
- Mentoring experience, ETL and data integration knowledge, or experience with Oracle and SQL Server.
