Location: Metairie or Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States; approximately 80% travel required

What you will do
- Manage archaeological surveys and site documentation, including feature and artifact identification, shovel test pits, photography, descriptions, and mapping.
- Supervise archaeological field technicians and crew chiefs in field and office settings.
- Plan, staff, and execute cultural resource management projects with multidisciplinary teams across the South Central region and nationally.
- Manage professional-quality reports supporting National Register of Historic Places and National Environmental Policy Act compliance.
- Work in field conditions that may involve rugged terrain, native vegetation, remote locations, and hot or cold temperatures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Architectural History, or a closely related field.
- Familiarity with field study design, cultural resource management regulations, archaeological documentation, and GIS utilities.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and strong writing, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, hike short distances, lift up to 20 pounds, and perform physically demanding fieldwork without assistance.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle during day or night.
- Availability for variable hours, including weekends and night shifts, and willingness to work in varied weather conditions.
Nice to have
- At least two years of experience managing junior staff during fieldwork and report preparation.
- Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Architectural History, or a closely related field.
- Previous experience on cultural resource projects.
- Writing sample and verifiable references.
