Sr. Engineer- Perimeter Security (Palo Alto)

Location: On-site in Bangalore, Karnataka, reporting to the Bangalore office Monday through Friday. The role requires 24/5 availability and rotating day, mid, and night shifts.

What you will do

• Administer enterprise firewalls, including security policies, NAT, routing, VPN, application control, URL filtering, threat prevention, upgrades, high availability, monitoring, and rule-base hygiene.
• Configure, operate, and troubleshoot secure web proxy and SSE platforms, including PAC files, authentication, SSL/TLS inspection, URL filtering, malware controls, and policy enforcement.
• Design and implement perimeter security improvements, migrations, replacements, and standardization initiatives across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Investigate incidents involving internet traffic, remote access, command-and-control activity, malicious downloads, and policy violations using logs, packet captures, and traffic analysis.
• Monitor availability, capacity, performance, licenses, certificates, and high-availability status while supporting uptime and service-level commitments.
• Maintain technical documentation and compliance evidence, and collaborate with network, cloud, endpoint, SOC, IAM, application, and vendor teams while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in perimeter security, enterprise firewalls, and secure web proxy technologies.
• Proven experience supporting Palo Alto Networks firewalls and Panorama; Prisma Access experience is strongly preferred.
• Hands-on experience with an enterprise secure web proxy or SSE platform such as Zscaler, Symantec ProxySG, Netskope, or Forcepoint.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/S, TLS, routing and switching, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, load balancers, certificates/PKI, packet capture, and network traffic analysis.
• Experience with formal incident, problem, change, vulnerability, configuration-management, compliance, and audit processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience; availability for 24/5 shift coverage and office-based work is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with GCP, Python, PowerShell, APIs, or infrastructure-as-code.
• Certifications such as PCNSE, Fortinet NSE4/NSE5, Zscaler, Netskope, Broadcom/Symantec, Forcepoint, CCNP Security, CISSP, or AWS/Azure cloud security certifications.
