Senior Software Engineer, Ads Pangle - USDS (C++/Go)

Location: Seattle, United States; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days a week

Salary: $177,688–$341,834 annually, with potential discretionary bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Design and implement highly available, low-latency ad-serving systems for large-scale traffic.
• Develop and optimize ad delivery strategies across different placements to improve monetization efficiency.
• Improve algorithms and systems for ad recall, ranking, bidding, and traffic allocation.
• Build user- and ad-level monitoring systems using large-scale advertising data.
• Develop analytical and optimization tools for campaign performance.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, lead engineering initiatives, and introduce new technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of modern software technologies, large-scale backend systems, and data pipelines.
• Strong computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, software design, coding, and problem-solving.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with ownership and the ability to move projects forward independently.

Nice to have

• Strong programming expertise in C++ or Go, including debugging and performance optimization.
• Experience with large-scale advertising infrastructure or other high-throughput, low-latency systems.
• Strong business and data intuition, abstraction skills, project execution experience, and a passion for complex problems and innovation.
