Software Engineer, Data Foundation – USDS (AI)

Location: Seattle, United States; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days a week

Salary: $129,960–$246,240 annually

What you will do

• Optimize Apache Spark performance and resource utilization for large-scale data processing.
• Improve ClickHouse and Doris OLAP systems through query tuning and storage-compute optimization.
• Contribute to AI/ML-powered job diagnosis, failure analysis, monitoring, and self-healing data pipelines.
• Support disaster recovery and data integrity mechanisms for scalable data infrastructure.
• Develop maintainable code, participate in code reviews, and write technical documentation with senior engineers.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 1 year of hands-on experience building or maintaining distributed systems.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Scala, C++, or Python.
• Availability for fully in-person work in Seattle, up to 5 days per week.

Nice to have

• Practical experience with Apache Spark, ClickHouse, Doris, or similar big data technologies.
