Principal Software Engineer (AWS)

Location: Scottsdale, United States; hybrid work model. Positions in Scottsdale, San Francisco, Chicago, and New York require regular office collaboration. Candidates must already be eligible to work in the United States for any employer; visa sponsorship is not available.

Base pay: $173,000–$230,000 per year for Phoenix or Chicago, and $207,000–$276,000 per year for San Francisco, plus discretionary incentive eligibility and benefits.

What you will do

• Set software engineering standards and provide hands-on technical leadership across multiple teams.
• Partner with product management to shape product strategy, descriptions, and technology roadmaps.
• Own technical product design, software architecture, and end-to-end service solutions.
• Design and engineer cloud-native services using containerization, CI/CD, automated testing, and operational-readiness practices.
• Define departmental technical vision and influence engineering, product, and architecture decisions.
• Coach engineers, present technical concepts, collaborate with customers, and lead cross-functional change.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 15+ years designing and developing complex software projects, including 8+ years in fintech.
• Experience implementing cloud application services with containerization, CI/CD, automated testing, and security compliance.
• Proven experience designing and building complex end-to-end full-stack systems and leading cross-functional technical teams.
• Hands-on experience with Java, RESTful services, microservices, Spring, messaging frameworks, databases, JavaScript, and test automation.
• Knowledge of SDLC, Agile/Scrum, DevOps, OOA/OOD, Git-based repositories, bug tracking, and modern cloud platforms.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in computer science or another technical field.
• AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, cloud orchestration, monitoring, and application migration experience.
• Knowledge of ACH/EFT, RTP, FedNow, and real-time payment networks.
• Experience with C#, Ruby, Python, PHP, Splunk, Altiris, Zabbix, or AppDynamics.
• Cloud or Kubernetes certification.
