Engineering Manager (Fintech)

Location: On-site in San Francisco, United States

Estimated base salary: $225,000–$300,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead and grow engineering teams while remaining involved in code, system design, and architecture decisions.
• Guide development of data ingestion, transformation, and lineage infrastructure for traceable financial data.
• Own delivery of flexible financial reporting, including drill-down from projections to individual transactions.
• Lead accounting automation that structures messy financial data and reduces manual work.
• Manage teams building dependency-aware accounting workflows and AI-native user experiences.
• Develop engineering management processes, hiring practices, team rituals, and quality standards.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including substantial hands-on engineering work.
• 2+ years of direct experience managing engineers.
• Experience owning hiring, performance management, and team output.
• Ability to contribute to system design, code reviews, and architecture decisions.
• High motivation, agency, and commitment to high-quality product development.
• Ability to work in person in San Francisco.

Nice to have

• Experience managing teams in complex technical domains.
• Fintech or accounting-related experience.
• Experience founding a business, building products from scratch, or growing from an early engineering hire into management.
• A strong track record in hiring.
