[2026-2027] Elementary Building Substitute

Location: Philadelphia, PA, USA; onsite, 8:00–4:30 daily

Salary: $45,000 per year

What you will do

• Provide short-term classroom coverage for lead teachers across the building.
• Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction in whole-group and small-group settings using provided curriculum resources.
• Create safe, inclusive learning environments through effective classroom management and school routines.
• Track student progress and use data to inform instruction.
• Support arrival, dismissal, transitions, lunch, recess, tutoring, small-group learning, and student supervision.
• Complete attendance and student-record duties and participate in staff meetings, coaching, professional development, and family events.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Prior experience in educational settings required.
• Strong classroom management skills and experience supporting student growth and achievement.
• Cultural competence and commitment to inclusion, anti-racism, and the eradication of anti-Blackness.
• Ability to adapt, solve problems, motivate students, and work effectively with families and staff.
• Completion of Pennsylvania State Police, PA Child Abuse, and Cogent Federal Fingerprinting clearances is required before the start date.
