Machine Learning Engineer, Search (AI)

Location: San Jose R&D; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days a week

Salary: $136,800–$359,720 annually, plus potential bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Improve search quality and user experience through query analysis, text relevance matching, video understanding, and multimodal matching.
• Design and implement end-to-end ranking systems covering recall, first-stage ranking, final-stage ranking, and mixed-row ranking.
• Model large-scale behavioral data to personalize user interests and recommendations.
• Solve supply-and-demand matching, business cold-start, and sustainable growth challenges.
• Integrate generative recommendation systems using LLMs and frameworks such as GenRec.
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, infrastructure engineers, and operations teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Proficiency with machine learning frameworks including TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or C++ and a strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• At least 2 years of experience developing large-scale search or recommendation systems.
• Experience with search, recommendation, or advertising algorithms is preferred.
• Publication records in journals or conferences are preferred.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with generative recommendation frameworks and their use in large-scale systems.
• Experience with LLMs, VLMs, NLP, computer vision, and multimodal technologies.
