Machine Learning Engineer (Recommendations)

Location: Seattle, United States; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days a week

Salary: $129,960–$246,240 annually, with potential discretionary bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Build and design large-scale machine learning algorithms that model creators' real-time interests.
• Optimize commodity relationship mining, ranking, and recall for creator product recommendations.
• Analyze large-scale creator and merchant behavior data to develop targeted algorithm strategies.
• Improve merchant monetization efficiency and creator productivity through e-commerce tools and recommendations.
• Support the development of TikTok's e-commerce platform and personalized shopping experience for millions of merchants and users.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong programming and problem-solving abilities.
• Applied machine learning knowledge and familiarity with recommendation algorithms such as collaborative filtering, matrix factorization, factorization machines, gradient boosting, deep neural networks, Wide and Deep, GBDT, LTR, DIN, or related methods.
• Experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch and at least one programming language such as C++ or Python.
• Ability to work fully in person in Seattle, up to 5 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience in recommendation systems, search engines, online advertising, information retrieval, natural language processing, machine learning, or large-scale data mining.
• Publications in relevant machine learning and information retrieval conferences or journals.
• Participation in data mining or machine learning competitions such as Kaggle or KDD Cup.
