TL;DR
Senior Accounting & Controllership Specialist (Revenue Recognition/Financial Reporting): Owning end-to-end revenue recognition, period-end reporting, and P&L analysis for MSCI's Private Assets business with an accent on ASC 606, SAP journal entries, and SOX controls. Focus on assessing complex contract arrangements, identifying financial risks and control gaps, and applying AI tools to automate accounting and reporting workflows.
Location: Budapest, Hungary
Salary: HUF 12,500,000–15,000,000 per year, plus eligibility for an annual bonus.

What you will do
- Own revenue recognition accounting for subscription and transactional products under ASC 606.
- Assess new and amended contracts and determine appropriate accounting treatment.
- Prepare revenue-related journal entries in SAP, including deferred revenue and contract assets.
- Deliver period-end management reporting packages with full P&L variance analysis and business commentary.
- Provide forward-looking analysis of revenue trends, cost dynamics, risks, opportunities, and anomalies to senior leaders.
- Execute SOX controls, support revenue audits, and improve accounting processes and control effectiveness.
Requirements
- 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience focused on revenue recognition.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP or IFRS.
- Experience in a public-company environment with SOX compliance exposure.
- Hands-on experience with SAP GL, AR, or revenue modules and RevStream or a comparable revenue subledger.
- Proficiency in Excel and financial reporting, including work with large data sets.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills across Sales, Legal, FP&A, and Technology.
Nice to have
- CPA or international equivalent.
- Big Four or national accounting firm experience.
- Experience in financial services, data and analytics, or technology.
- Familiarity with AI tools for accounting and finance workflows.
